Well, I feel like an enormous failure today. After yesterdays post I was all gung-ho and had plans for getting something done today. And I have essentially done nothing on my list except the breakfast dishes and go buy milk and bread (and a few other things that totalled $35 I wasn't planning on spending)
Lets see, the day started out alright. I got up and did my devotions, made breakfast for the family, Then I got sidetracked reading blogs until it was time to put S on the bus. Note that I hadn't done the breakfast dishes yet. We wait for the bus at my neighbors house at 8:00, so after the kids got on the bus, she asked me in for coffee. Well, I'm not one to turn down coffee and a chat with her, that would be rude. So I didn't get back home until 9:15. Then of course I had to take a shower (no, I am not the most attractive mom putting the kid on the bus, but its a good thing my neighbor still likes me) Then I had to run out to Target because my daughter told me at 9:00 last night that she is out of deodorant. Please note again that I still haven't done the dishes. After Target I stopped at Goodwill because you just never know what you might find at Goodwill. ( I did get some great deals, will post about that later:) ) After wandering around Goodwill, I went to the grocery store where, as I said, I bought much more than was on my list. Now, they say you should never go to the grocery store hungry, but I say you should never drive anywhere near a Taco John's hungry. I couldn't resist the urge to drive-thru and get me some Ole`s. And darn it if they weren't cold when I got home. By now it was 12:30. After I ate, I had to go read some more blogs of course. Then, horror of horrors, our cable, Internet, and phone went out. I felt like I had lost a limb. I might as well tell you that this may be the only reason I got my breakfast dishes done. Oh, and I made the bed too. Then I took some pictures of my Goodwill finds, only I couldn't figure out how to hook the camera up to the computer. By the time I was done playing with the camera, the Internet was back up so I of course had to check out blogs again. Then I got a call from another friend who invited me to a girls night at her house tonight, to which I responded "heck yea". But of course, I had to run out and buy some snacks to bring to girls night because I can't show up empty handed. I also picked up a few toys for the dog. When I got home I played with the dog. By then it was 2:45. Time to go pick up my oldest son from school because my daughter was staying after school and needed their car. Since I got home, I have chatted with the boys about their day, and had a snack. Then I decided to write this post, which is turning out to be just a long, boring ramble.
So, there you have it. An enormous failure. Am I not the most unorganized, undisciplined person ever? I sure feel like I am.

A New Start - Part 2
Isn't it wonderful how God sometimes puts things in our path exactly when we need them? That's what happened not too long after writing this post about needing to be self disciplined. I was reading a blog (I honestly can't remember which one or I'd link to it. If you think it might be yours, let me know) and they mentioned that John MacArthur just did a series on Grace to You on being disciplined. (I got the series on itunes -titled: Fundamental Attitudes: Self Discipline) I have only listened to the first message, and it is outstanding.
After going through a list of very practical advice, he gets into the scriptural reasons for being disciplined. Essentially, that self discipline starts when we realize this:
He explains that "We have been purchased at such a high cost & you will begin to seek a holy life when you begin to understand the price Jesus Christ paid for you." This message was exactly what I needed to hear. God is so good!
If you are struggling in this area I would highly recommend this series. I can't wait to listen to the next 3 parts. If you listen to these messages, please let me know how you like it!

Financial Shape in 2008
Crystal at Biblical Womanhood is challenging us to get our finances in order in 2008. I must say this is something that I truly need to do. And since I am working towards becoming more disciplined in all areas of my life, I am hoping that Crystal can help me in the area of finances.
I don't really want to put our budget online, but I will be posting about how It's going. Hopefully this challenge will keep me accountable! I have set up many budgets in the past, but have never stuck with them.
So, as I have committed to making A New Start this year, count me in!

WFMW - Earn Extra Income
As a SAHM of 4, I was looking for a way to earn a little extra money. And since I feel my primary focus needs to be my home and family, I haven't wanted to have a job outside of my home. So, I have been donating plasma twice a week.
When you donate plasma, they actually pay you. You can donate twice a week. The first time in a week that you donate you earn $20 and the second time you earn $40. That's $60 a week people! $240 a month! The process is very easy, and it only takes about 60 - 90 minutes per donation. I bring a book, or listen to my ipod. I am actually being paid to lounge and read a book! What could be better? The plasma is made into medication that is used by hemophiliacs and others. I can make my appointments on-line, and if I can't make it one day, I just cancel the appointment. They also provide free child-care for those who have small children.
So, that's what Works For Me! Head over to Rocks In My Dryer to find more great tips!

Happy 2008!
Happy New Year! We had, as predicted, a very quiet New Years Eve. The older kids went to their lock-in around 7:30. I tried to work my way through my huge basket of magazines, cutting out new recipes and craft and decorating ideas. I'm only about half way through. My husband read. Had this conversation with S:
Me - Lets watch Ratatouille
S - OK, that's like number 14 on my list of top 20 movies!
Me- You made a list?
S - No.
Me - Huh?
Watched half of Ratatouille. We watched the ball drop in New York and had lights out at 11:01. (told ya we were boring) S slept in our room. He was talking in his sleep. He said "the monkey's potato."
All in all it was a great New Years.
