He's OK, But It Might Take Mom a Little Longer To Recover

Today started out as a typical day. I did some laundry, cleaned the kitchen, and went for a walk with Andrew and Spencer. Spencer didn't actually walk, he rode his new bike (a hand-me-down from Andrew.)

After our walk, Spencer still wanted to ride his bike so I let him ride up and down the street in front of our house, after giving him a stern warning to watch out for cars. Not five minutes later I hear Spencer crying and running into the house yelling "I didn't get hit by a car, I didn't get hit by a car!" I guess he felt that he needed to let me know that he had been watching out for cars. But it turns out he hadn't been watching out for the curb which he happened to have hit and somehow got a three inch gash in his leg.

Let me tell you, it was gross.

And, it was obvious to even my untrained eye that this would require stitches. And it did require stiches...nine stiches.

Spencer has handled it all quite well, and as he has to lay down with his leg elevated for the next day or two he is in seventh heaven with all the DVDs and video games that a 9yo boy could want.

So what started out as a typical day ended with quite a bit of drama.

I'm just thankful that he's OK.

I'm glad it wasn't worse. I had a bike accident when I was 8 and had 231 stitches. They had to make me a new lip because I tore mine off. And knocked out 4 front teeth. Yea. It was really GROSS!

Oh Tracy, I can't imaging how bad that must have been. It is helpful for me to remember that it could have been worse.

Connie, Thank you so much for your prayers.

Misty,

Hopefully you won't have to experience that. Spencer happens to be my most daring child, so it's not surprising that this is not his first set of stitches!
