WFMW - What Doesn't Work For Me

With six people in our family, (one of them being a 17yo girl who can change outfits 3 times a day) I do a lot of laundry. All the advice I've ever received about laundry is to do a few loads every day.

Well, this does not work for me.

My laundry room is in the basement and I don't usually go into the basement unless I'm doing laundry. My problem is I put a load of laundry in the washer in the morning and then totally forget about it. (Have I mentioned that I'm not good at multi-tasking?) Then, the next time I want to start a load of laundry, I find a washer full of musty, wet clothes that need to be washed again.....yuck.

So, I have a regular laundry day. I try to spend two days a week concentrating on catching up on laundry. If that is my main focus for the day I seem to get it done, and I don't leave wet laundry mouldering away in the washer.

So, while laundry every day doesn't work for me, laundry day does.

Thanks for reminding me! I think I have a load of musty kitchen towels to go rewash.

you know what, energy wise they say it's better/more sensible to do it all in one day, rather than a bit every day and I agree... It may be better utility wise, but with MY energy and time- it's definatly better!

I do laundry once a week also. Why would anyone want to do a load here, a load there when bing, bang, boom you can have it ALL done in one day and not even have to think about it for 7 days!! Plus I use that day to do a lot of baking so a lot of things get done on laundry day.

My washer and dryer is in one of the busiest areas of my house and I still forget about clothes in the washer or dryer!!! I feel the same way! The only time I do laundry more than 1 or 2 days a week is when something really really needs to be washed right away!

The only sentence I could really understand was "laundry doesn't work for me" I got stuck there because I can so relate!

I can understand.

We have the machine in the bathroom, so I see everything everyday.

I wash when the machine is full.
Because we're 8 of us, I can make piles: white, black, red, yellow and green, and coloured.

I wash in the evening and hang it on the line in the morning.

I'd probably forget it too when it wasn't in sight.

Feel welcome to read my post about what doesn't work for me and how I try to overcome it.
